Aftercare

For aftercare the moisturizer I always use is 'Palmers cocoa butter' or 'coconut oil'. They are the easiest to find and best for your money.

Step by step guide for when you get home

Your fresh tattoo will be wrapped in clingfilm, you should keep this on for 3-4 hours. Before taking it off ensure your hands and surrounding areas are clean. Wash with unscented soap; when wet do not scrub dry. Make sure you air dry or use a clean paper towel to dab dry to avoid irritating your tattoo. No moisturizer is needed on the first day so just rewrap it and just ensure its clean. If another few hours pass until you go to bed, repeat the above process so you have a fresh and clean wrap before bed.

Do make sure you wrap at night for the first few nights as it protects your tattoo from transferring blood and ink onto your bedding and clothes. Your tattoo will leak black ink, its normal and your tattoo is not falling off.

Once you wake up repeat the cleaning process. You do not need to wrap the tattoo again, just make sure you wear clean and loose clothing that wont cling or stick to the area. From now on wash the area once a day and apply aftercare cream to your tattoo in the morning and the evening for the next two weeks until it's healed.

{{{{Whilst it's very important to keep your tattoo moisturized, it's just as bad to overdo it. Apply a thin layer twice a day, even once will do just make sure it doesn't look too dry. You can wash your tattoo daily in the shower as normal with unscented soap. However, do not submerge your tattoo in water e.g. baths, going swimming as it is very prone to infection that way. I your tattoo starts to feel itchy, do not pick/ scratch any scabs. This can affect your tattoos healing and potentially cause pieces to fall out. Naturally the tattoo becomes slightly itchy as its healing, this is normal and expected. Try applying a wet flannel to the area to relieve to urge to scratch. }}}}}

{{IMPORTANT}}

Your tattoo must stay clean to avoid any infection. To avoid this do not touch your tattoo with dirty hands or dirty towels. Try avoid exercising for the first few days as it can get sweat into the tattoo and irritate it. Also, do not expose your tattoo to sun/ sunbeds or apply sunscreen until it is healed.
